Before signing with the Los Angeles Lakers in early November, Tyson Chandler spent the past three seasons with the Phoenix Suns. During his spell with the franchise, the 36-year-old veteran was able to take part in the team's rebuilding process.

Speaking to Gina Mizell of The Athletic, Chandler recently shared his thoughts on how he believes the future is going to look like for the young Suns side.

The Suns currently have one of the most promising big men in rookie Deandre Ayton, who Chandler was able to spend time with, albeit only for a couple of months. According to Chandler, it's going to be a rough road ahead for the 20-year-old, and he will need to be mentally prepared for the challenges ahead.

“Just to continue to grow,” he said. “Clearly, it’s a tough time there, but you gotta make sure you continue to develop, continue to learn the right way. You don’t want to develop bad habits. So just competing every night, finding yourself out there. That’s the biggest thing is just compete, compete, compete, no matter what’s going on around you.”

Chandler went on to say that Phoenix is now on the verge of turning a corner and that the Suns faithful just have to remain steadfast in their support.

“(Ayton), ‘Book' (Devin Booker), and I like what I’m seeing out of Mikal (Bridges). You just start building along with that. You’ve got to start bringing the young players along the right way. Having those players gives them a bright future, but you’ve got to put the right pieces around them to (make) the puzzle.”

Now at 4-19, the Suns currently hold the worst record in the league right now. Things are looking very bleak at the moment, but there's definitely that hopeful, lingering feeling that the team will be able to turn it around within the next couple of years.
