The Phoenix Suns will reportedly meet with former NBA shooting guard Jimmer Fredette on Thursday and could sign him for the rest of the season, according to 98.7 FM Arizona’s Sports Station’s John Gambadoro.

The Suns currently have an open roster spot.

Jimmer Fredette was a college basketball star at BYU. His NBA career, however, was short-lived.

The sharpshooter began his pro career with the Sacramento Kings. He appeared in 171 games with the Kings and averaged 7.0 points.

The Kings waived Jimmer Fredette on Feb. 27, 2014.

Jimmer signed with the Chicago Bulls on March 2, 2014. He played for the New Orleans Pelicans, San Antonio Spurs and New York Knicks after that.

Fredette last played in an NBA game on March 1, 2016 with the Knicks against the Portland Trail Blazers.

Jimmer Fredette has career NBA averages of 6.0 points, 1.0 rebounds and 1.4 assists in 235 games while shooting 41.2 percent from the field, 38.1 percent from beyond the arc and 87.6 percent from the free-throw line. The most points Fredette scored in an NBA game was 24.

Fredette recently finished playing for the Shanghai Sharks of the Chinese Basketball Association. He averaged 36.9 points per game for Shanghai.

The Suns are 17-55 on the season. They have the worst record in the Western Conference standings.
