Tyson Chandler leaves the Phoenix Suns at the hands of young stars Devin Booker and Deandre Ayton, and the former All-Star and Defensive Player of the Year wants “nothing but the best” for the two as they take over the franchise.

The 36-year-old center recently reached a buyout agreement with the Suns, effectively ending his three-year stint with the franchise.

While the Suns will miss Tyson Chandler's locker room presence, the former second overall pick is optimistic about the team's future. And he believes they are in good hands with Devin Booker and Deandre Ayton.

“It’s a lot of love. I want nothing but the best for (Booker and Ayton), because they are the future. They’re not only the future of this franchise, they’re future faces in the league. So I feel like it’s my duty to pass the torch along,” Chandler told Gina Mizell of The Athletic.

Tyson Chandler, who won the NBA Championship with the Dallas Mavericks in 2011 and the DPOY award with the New York Knicks in 2012, has featured off the bench for the Suns this season — just after a year that saw him start in all 46 games that he played in.

He played a total of 166 games with the Suns, seven this year, and put up averages of 7.2 points and 9.5 rebounds. Chandler is now expected to sign with the Los Angeles Lakers following his buyout.

Chandler's departure signals the Suns' full commitment to their youth, and as the 18-year NBA veteran noted, they have the future faces of the league in Booker and Ayton.
