Hollywood has been infatuated with the world of boxing, creating multiple different films featured around the violent sport. One of those beloved storylines is none other than Sylvester Stallone's Rocky franchise.

The first Rocky film was released in 1976. It won an Oscar in three separate categories: Best Picture, Best Director (John G. Avildsen), and Best Film Editing (Richard Halsey and Scott Conrad).

The franchise has expanded into this generation with two Creed films based on Apollo Creed's son being trained by Rocky himself. However, it seems as though Stallone has another idea to keep the Rocky storyline alive, as he's apparently working on a Rocky prequel series.

Via Awful Announcing:

“I started out this morning by writing a treatment for a Rocky prequel for streaming,” Sylvester Stallone said in the caption. “Ideally, 10 episodes for a few seasons to really get to the heart of the characters in [their] younger years.”

You would think the first film back in 1976 was enough for an early development on the franchise. Instead, Stallone aims to start the prequel back in the early 1960s, meaning we'd be watching a 17-year-old Rocky Balboa.

This news comes from Sylvester Stallone himself via an Instagram post. So if this series does come to life, we're likely a few years away from watching the pilot episode. Either way, this is an intriguing storyline that is sure to captivate audiences everywhere.
