Tai Tuivasa had to celebrate his win at UFC 269 with his signature move. He was thrown a shoe and a beer from the stands and he proceeded to down his signature ‘shooey.'

It appears there was one person who did not want him to celebrate with his signature move as a security guard can be seen trying to pull him down from the top of that cage. The official in question was not with the UFC but appeared to be working for the commission.

Tai Tuivasa was downing his shooey on top of the cage while an official can be seen putting his hands on him and trying to pull him down. Things seemed to escalate from there as he tried to push the UFC heavyweight out of the cage.

“This is a touchy subject tonight, I got pushed out of there pretty fast and had a bit of an altercation with one of the officials. So, hopefully, don’t do that again, please!”

“Look, I understand he’s doing his job [the official] but he wasn’t a UFC worker or anything. I don’t know, fuck, to be honest, I don’t know what he was. He just pushed me out. My fans come to watch me knock people out and do fucking shoeys, and I felt that he was pushing me out of there and trying to tell me how to do my job, when I don’t tell him [how to do his].”

The shooey has become a signature move from Tai Tuivasa and he always celebrates a KO by downing a beer from a shoe. Sometimes gross things are added in like hot sauce or even people spitting in the shoe.

UFC 269 appears to be a turning point for Tai Tuivasa as he landed a huge KO on a very good opponent in Augusto Sakai. The Australian heavyweight has had a very big career turnaround.
