It's been an absolute train-wreck for the Houston Texans all offseason long.

Deshaun Watson has been accused of sexual assault by numerous women and it appears the plan for the Texans regarding him is making him inactive during the regular season.

It's left the starting gig at quarterback open and while the assumption is Tyrod Taylor will be under center Week 1 for the Texans, he hasn't been told anything yet, per USAToday.com.

“I haven’t been told that officially, but I’ve never necessarily looked for that confirmation,” Taylor said, via Mark Lane of USAToday.com. “My mindset doesn’t change and it hasn’t changed since I’ve been drafted. Ever since I’ve started playing football, it’s to prepare as a starter, lead like a starter and let the coaches make the decisions that they make.”

While it seems like it's been a minute since Taylor last started in the NFL, it was just last year in 2020 when he was the starter for the Los Angeles Chargers. After a painkiller shot went wrong though, it thrust then rookie Justin Herbert into the starting role and he never gave the spot back.

Taylor has a chance to start with the Texans now and the only competition left is rookie third-round pick Davis Mills.

Regardless of who is starting for Houston, it appears the Texans are in for a long year as they've had a lot of turnover on the roster and with the coaching staff all while their superstar quarterback is dealing with serious, off the field legal issues.
