The introduction of next-generation gaming technology always adds extra challenges for game developers. Naturally, developers always want to make their best games available on every platform at hand. Now, with the overwhelming success of Sony's PlayStation 5 and Microsoft's Xbox Series X|S, a beloved franchise makes the bold step towards the future. Bethesda officially announced the transition of its successful MMO The Elder Scrolls Online to next-generation consoles. Players who own any of the next-gen consoles can get their hands on a truly upgraded experience beginning June 8, 2021.

Bethesda has good news for ESO players on PS4 and Xbox One. The Elder Scrolls Online: Console Enhanced edition will be free to all who own previous-generation versions of the game. Naturally, this only adds to the allure of finally transitioning to next-generation technology. The consoles might cost quite a lot but at least you get a free upgrade for ESO.

ENHANCED ELDER SCROLLS ONLINE

The Console Enhanced ESO takes advantage of the beefier hardware. It allegedly takes half as much load times on average and includes a 60FPS performance mode and several other mechanical changes. ESO finally gets a 4K mode with the Console Enhanced version.

Bethesda initially announced the upgraded version of the console ports during the Blackwood Chapter announcement event. The latest ESO expansion takes players on a quest to expose evil plots connected with Tamriel's Prince of Destruction. The Blackwood Chapter will be a standalone story but it will continue the overall Gates of Oblivion narrative spread throughout the game in 2021.

Players rocking the MMO on consoles will get access to the Blackwood Chapter expansion when the game launches in June. Above all, PS5 and Xbox Series X|S owners won't miss a shred of ESO content with Bethesda's planned release schedule. Hopefully, the new Elder Scrolls Online console port offers a better experience for its loyal players.
