Juan Soto will be taking part in the 2022 Home Run Derby and the Washington Nationals star is looking to do more than just park some baseballs in the bleachers. While he'll certainly be looking to put on a show at the Derby, Soto revealed he has one specific goal in mind. Via Chelsea Janes, the Nats superstar claimed he wants to hit the longest opposite-field home run in MLB history before coolly saying that “anyone can pull the ball.”

While most of the sluggers will be looking to rack up their home run count by pulling the ball, Soto wants to prove his dominance in a more unique way. It's much harder to hit an opposite-field home run, and Soto is gunning to become the oppo-taco king.

Don't be surprised if the Nationals star is swinging a bit late during the Home Run Derby, because the left-hander will be looking to launch some baseballs deep into the left-field seats. Rather than get out ahead of the pitches and pull them to right field, Soto will have to be a bit more patient in order to achieve his goal.

Of Soto's 17 home runs this season, only two have been hit to the opposite field. But he's one of the league's most gifted hitters, and if he's aiming to crush an MLB-record oppo taco at the Derby, he'll need to time up his swing to perfection.

Fans can expect the likes of Kyle Schwarber, Pete Alonso, Ronald Acuña and the rest of the contestants to be pulling the ball regularly at the Derby, but Soto will be playing his own game within the game.
