After the media flashed a light on Carmelo Anthony's peculiar habit of yelling “I got it, get the f*** outta here” during defensive rebounds, ESPN's Royce Young finally asked him how it all came about, garnering an honest response from the All-Star forward after letting him know his signature chant went viral to start the season.

“I didn't know that,” said Anthony with a smile. “I've been doing that for a long time, I think now coming with the whole mindset thing and focus, that motivation to wanting to get out on that rebounding tip and being aggressive on the glass, just kind of motivate myself. It's a mind game that I play with myself to go out there and play and get some rebounds.”

“I love rebounds, even if my numbers are down right now, I love rebounds. I love rebounding the basketball, it's actually fun playing with somebody like Steven (Adams) who helps you rebound, with Russ, who steals rebounds (laughs). It makes it fun for me to go out there and challenge myself to rebound the basketball.”

Anthony is averaging 3.8 rebounds per game, by far the lowest of his career through six games with his new team, but he's averaged 6.6 throughout his career. It will be difficult for the 6-foot-8 forward to find that many to pull down this season with excellent rebounders like Westbrook, Paul George and Steven Adams hauling down boards on a regular basis, but as long as his enthusiasm remains, he should find himself content with taking on the challenge.
