Shai Gilgeous-Alexander has developed into a star-level player for the Oklahoma City Thunder. The 23-year-old is one of the smoothest scorers in the NBA despite playing with an extremely young team around him.

Unfortunately for Oklahoma City, their star player received a setback. The day after Gilgeous-Alexander left the Thunder's home loss with the Indiana Pacers with an ankle injury, ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski reported that he will be sidelined for the next few weeks and re-evaluated next month.

The Thunder already had the league's most inefficient offense. Without their top scorer, it could get even uglier. Standout rookie Josh Giddey will have complete control of the show while SGA recovers. In 43 games this season, Gilgeous-Alexander is averaging 22.7 points, 5.5 assists and 4.7 rebounds per game.

Last year, Gilgeous-Alexander missed half of the season and the Thunder were one of the very worst teams without him. Although Al Horford also missed the chunk of the season when Gilgeous-Alexander was out, his presence means the most.

Losing Gilgeous-Alexander is very bad news for the Thunder. Their rebuild is predicated heavily on their young players. Gilgeous-Alexander is by far their best, as he is playing near an All-Star level. Without a ton of support, SGA is not likely to be named to the All-Star Game. Still, his talent is undeniable and his team will sorely miss it for these next few weeks.
