The Oklahoma City Thunder have claimed point guard Jawun Evans off waivers, according to Shams Charania of the Athletic.

Evans signed a two-way contract with the Phoenix Suns on Dec. 7. He appeared in seven games with the Suns this season.

Evans was drafted by the Philadelphia 76ers with the 39th overall pick in the 2017 NBA Draft. He was traded to the LA Clippers on July 6, 2017 for $3.2 million.

Evans played in 48 games for the Clippers last season. He averaged 4.8 points per contest while shooting 35.2 percent from the field and 27.8 percent from beyond the arc.

The Clippers waived Evans on Oct. 15, 2018. The Suns recently waived him to make room for shooting guard Jimmer Fredette.

The Thunder beat out the Houston Rockets for Evans, who would have signed with the Rockets had he cleared waivers. Evans is now joining a Thunder team which has a record of 43-30, which is good for sixth place in the Western Conference standings.

According to Brett Dawson of The Athletic, Evans may or may not play for the Thunder. OKC's G-league team, The Blue, are in the playoffs this week. Evans could practice with the Thunder and serve as a scout-team guard in practice.
