The decision has finally been made and Paul George is staying with the Oklahoma City Thunder. After a year of flirting with the idea of playing for the Los Angeles Lakers, all the homecoming talk can now die down with George's announcement.

While that is already a stingy news for the Lakers, it gets worse. According to Chris Mannix of Yahoo Sports, Magic Johnson didn't even get the chance to throw in the team's best pitch at the All-Star swingman.

The most astonishing part about Paul George staying in OKC is that he didn't even meet with the Lakers. Speaks to how strong the bond was with Thunder, Westbrook.

As it turns out, George's chemistry with Russell Westbrook has become thicker than his home ties. Come to think of it, Los Angeles will always be home to George. He can always reside there in the summer. But the comfort, opportunity to win, plus the guarantee of playing alongside a superstar such as Westbrook were too good to pass up.

The Lakers can now set their sights potentially on DeMarcus Cousins, but he's a risky option coming off a season-ending Achilles injury. All is not lost for the Lakers, though, as they're still the frontrunners for LeBron James.

For now, George, Westbrook, and the rest of OKC can party the night out with a huge free agency win.
