Minnesota Timberwolves point guard Derrick Rose dished out his 3,000th career assist on Friday against the San Antonio Spurs.

Derrick Rose has now scored over 10,000 points and racked up over 3,000 assists in his NBA career. Rose was the No. 1 overall pick in the 2008 NBA Draft.

Rose would have reached this assist milestone a long time ago if he didn't suffer the four knee injuries that forced him to miss a bevy of games. Rose, however, didn't let the injuries define him and he's showing that hard work trumps negativity all the time.

The 30-year-old floor general is having an All-Star-caliber season in Minnesota. The youngest MVP in NBA history entered Friday averaging 18.8 points, 2.8 rebounds and 4.8 assists per game while shooting 48.5 percent from the field, a career-high 45.7 percent from beyond the arc and 84.5 percent from the free-throw line.

He is currently second on the Timberwolves in points per game.

Rose's scoring average this season is the highest he has scored since the 2011-12 campaign. The Chicago native scored a career-high 50 points on Halloween against the Utah Jazz and is well on his way to making the All-Star team.

Rose is second among Western Conference guards in All-Star voting. D-Rose is trailing only Golden State Warriors superstar point guard Stephen Curry.
