When news broke this afternoon that Jimmy Butler has requested a trade from the Minnesota Timberwolves, Andrew Wiggins' brother, Nick, nonchalantly tweeted “Hallelujah.”

Well, to no one's surprise, it didn't take long for Butler to respond.

The All-Star shooting guard, while working out in Los Angeles, posted a video to his Instagram page with the caption, “Hallelujah.” Butler also said, “Keep that same energy.”

If you didn't believe the reports which came out in June claiming Jimmy Butler has some beef with Wiggins, you have even more evidence now that Butler and Wiggins aren't on good terms. Butler reportedly didn't like Wiggins' work ethic and approach on defense last season.

When Wiggins re-signed with the Timberwolves in the summer of 2017 on a five-year deal worth in excess of $146 million, he was hoping to be the face of the franchise for years to come and the primary option on offense. Wiggins, 23, is an athletic specimen. He can jump out of the gym, get to the rim at will, and finish in heavy traffic. The former No. 1 overall pick views himself as a number one scoring option, but he won’t get that title or volume of shot attempts with the Timberwolves as long as Butler, and to an extent, Towns, are on the roster.

After averaging a career-high 23.6 points per game during the 2016-17 season, Wiggins’ scoring output dropped to 17.7 last year with the addition of Butler.

There were many instances where it looked like Wiggins was going through the motions and not fully engaged on the court. It’s not a surprise Butler and Wiggins had trouble co-existing on the floor. Neither player is a good perimeter shooter and there is only so much room in the lane for guys to penetrate and get to the basket.

The Timberwolves' media day is on September 24. It's hard to envision a scenario where Butler is still on the team given what has come out today.
