Does anyone question whether or not Jimmy Butler can go out and play on opening night? The Minnesota Timberwolves are still trying to trade the indignant star, but all signs point to Butler suiting up on opening night.

Butler is reiterating his confidence that he can play at a high level. Despite the fact that he missed most of training camp and did not appear in a preseason game, Butler is still one of the best players in the game. As long as he feels like he can play, he should be on the court.

The drama and media scrutiny will continue until Butler is traded, but until then, he does make the Timberwolves a better team in the interim. The Timberwolves made the playoffs for the first time since 2004, and Butler was the driving force behind their success.

Of course, Tom Thibodeau will have no problem playing Butler. Thibs is on the hot seat this season and could be coaching for his job. Minnesota is a much better team with Butler on the floor. The longer they can keep Butler in a Timberwolves jersey, the better it is for Thibodeau.

There is a lot of uncertainty around the Minnesota franchise right now. But it looks like Butler will suit up on opening night for the Timberwolves and play a huge role on their team until he is traded.
