The Minnesota Timberwolves might be eliminated from playoff contention, but the fun isn't stopping yet for Karl-Anthony Towns. THe All-Star center is in line for a massive extension from his team worth over $230 million. It's the most lucrative offer that the star will get from his potential suitors.

After the series, Karl-Anthony Towns was asked about the aforementioned contract extension. The Timberwolves star was cautiously optimistic, but reiterated that nothing was set in stone quite yet. (via ClutchPoints)

At the very least, Towns doesn't seem intent on leaving town so far, which is a good sign for Timberwolves fans. Retaining your stars players has become increasingly difficult these days for small-market teams. For Towns to say that he likes the city and is willing to stay there says a lot about his intentions moving forward.

The question, though, is whether Towns gets a more lucrative offer elsewhere. Of course, the Timberwolves can offer Towns the most guaranteed money. However, the star can also be enticed to play in another city, where there could be other opportunities for him. We'll see what his decision is once the offseason starts.

The Timberwolves enjoyed a relatively successful 2021 season, earning their spot in the playoffs through the Play-In Tournament. Led by Towns and Anthony Edwards, the young team took the Memphis Grizzlies to the brink multiple times. However, they were almost never able to hold on to their leads, allowing their opponents to come back and win the game. It's a painful learning opportunity for this team, one that will hopefully make this core stronger in the future.
