The best Patrick Beverley update is any Patrick Beverley update. On Tuesday night, he helped the Minnesota Timberwolves score a huge win over the badly depleted Golden State Warriors, 129-114.

Beverley, who stuck with Warriors star Stephen Curry like a leech covered in glue, finished with 10 points and seven points. Although Curry had 34 points, he only shot 10-of-24 from the field, including 5-of-16 from beyond the arc.

After the victory, the Timberwolves' defensive ace was feeling himself. He took to Twitter to make his feelings known about still getting no love for the Defensive Player of the Year (DPOY) trophy. The 33-year-old Beverley even trumpeted his numbers.

That last line though.

Over the last few years, the Timberwolves enforcer has been campaigning for himself for the DPOY honor. While he hasn't won the plum, he has been named to the All-Defensive Team thrice already. History isn't on the side of Beverley, however, since the last guard to win as DPOY was Gary Payton in the 1995-96 season.

For sure, Beverley has been a positive cog for the Timberwolves. His experience has definitely been a factor for the young squad, which improved to 34-29, and his presence alone has given the locker room more energy and boundless confidence. The cantankerous guard is clearly the typical love-him-or-hate-him player.

Warriors coach Steve Kerr, after their loss to the Timberwolves, admitted that he likes playing against Beverley, who he described as “a winner.”

The Timberwolves will face the Oklahoma City Thunder on Friday.
