It was reported earlier Monday that the Tennessee Titans were going to work out veteran running back Adrian Peterson after the Derrick Henry injury news. Apparently the Titans have already seen enough, as Peterson is getting signed to the practice squad with the intention of elevating him up to the 53-man roster, per NFL Network's Ian Rapaport and ESPN's Adam Schefter.

Henry is reportedly expected to miss about two months of action with a foot injury suffered in the Titans' overtime victory over the Indianapolis Colts in Week 8 action. Tennessee is hoping the star running back will be back this season, but even if he is, help was needed as he recovers.

How much help Peterson will be able to provide at 36 years old remains to be seen, but he wasn't a total dumpster fire as a member of the Detroit Lions in 2020. The future Hall of Famer rushed for 604 yards in 16 games and scored seven touchdowns, averaging 3.9 yards per carry in the process. Again, these aren't great numbers and Peterson is nowhere close to Henry, but perhaps he'll be able to help out a little bit.

The running back is excited to get to work:

The Titans also have Jeremy McNichols and Dontrell Hilliard in the backfield. Neither player has produced much at the NFL level.

Tennessee is 6-2 on the season and in firm control of the AFC South after beating the Colts in overtime. The Henry injury is an absolute killer for sure, but the Titans should still win the division rather easily. If they do indeed do that and the star running back returns for the playoffs, that would be huge.

There will be more pressure on quarterback Ryan Tannehill with Henry out, but he does have a top weapon in A.J. Brown on the outside. Julio Jones is hurting, so Tennessee is hoping he's back soon.
