The Tennessee Titans are trying to build on a strong 2019 NFL season. They have already gotten a head start on solidifying their defense: retaining Reggie Gilbert.

The Titans announced that they have signed linebacker Reggie Gilbert to a new deal to keep him around for the 2020 NFL season, via Jim Wyatt of the team's official website:

The Titans have agreed to terms on a one-year contract extension with outside linebacker Reggie Gilbert.

The former Arizona product initially entered the NFL as an undrafted free agent prior to the 2016 campaign. He was finally able to find his footing and etch out an integral role for himself with the Green Bay Packers during the 2018 NFL season when he registered 44 tackles, 2.5 sacks, a fumble recovery, and 15 QB pressures.

Gilbert had arrived in Tennessee last offseason via trade after they parted ways with a seventh-round pick in a deal with Green Bay. He was able to provide some much-needed depth to the linebacker corps during the 2019 NFL season and wound up finishing with 24 tackles, seven quarterback pressures, and a sack in 11 games.

Reggie Gilbert was even named a starter in five games last year showing that perhaps Tennessee is still intrigued by his potential. Fortunately, he will now have another year to show off his skill set and possibly earn a long-term deal for himself with a team that managed to put together quite the resurgence with their impressive playoff run.
