Tom Brady spent the first 20 years of his NFL career with the New England Patriots. While there, he became not only the best quarterback in football, but arguably the greatest of all time.

In the offseason, Brady signed a deal with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. This is the first time he's switching teams in the NFL.

The issue is, Tom Brady will be 43 this season, and coming off the worst statistical season he's had in some time. Even the team success was lower than it usually is. New England did not make it to the AFC Championship game for the first time in nine seasons. Nine. That's just absolutely absurd.

And now he's going to a new team with new teammates. Things seem to be stacking against him.

This is Tom Brady though, so you can't bet against him.

With that in mind, what should you expect from the quarterback in 2020? Specifically, what should you expect from him from a fantasy standpoint?

2019 Fantasy Stats

Tom Brady was not exactly filling up the stat sheets in 2019. His numbers were still solid, but they weren't anything over-the-top and they certainly weren't up to his usual standards.

Still though, it's hard to complain about his production if you had him on your fantasy team. Tom Brady threw for 4,057 yards and 24 touchdowns compared to eight interceptions. He even threw in three rushing touchdowns for your troubles.

Tom Brady did have three games without a passing touchdown, which could really hurt in a week-to-week matchup league. However, one of those three games saw him score two rushing touchdowns. So that game was covered at least.

For the most part, Tom Brady was pretty consistent. You could roll him out as your starter weekly and he was giving you good numbers nearly every time. That type of security is important in a starting quarterback.

So while 2019 was far from perfect, it was another year of Tom Brady giving fantasy owners enough to win.

2020 Fantasy Projections

Brady's 2020 is set to be much more fruitful than his 2019.

People can argue that there are a few things going against Tom Brady this season. He is on a new team, and he's another year older. So why would he produce better than he did last season?

The answer to that is simple, the players around him. It's no secret that the 2019 Patriots were not exactly loaded with offensive weapons. It was basically Tom Brady and Julian Edelman, with a few pieces thrown in here and there.

I mean, he had Antonio Brown for a week, but it was legitimately just for one week. So let's not pretend like that made much of a difference.

Mohamed Sanu played eight games with the Patriots, but was also in the midst of his worst season since 2015. Josh Gordon was there for a few weeks, but this isn't the same Gordon from before all the suspensions.

Other than that, it was mainly rookies and Phillip Dorsett in the passing game. Definitely not the best supporting cast the quarterback has ever had.

Now Tom Brady has two elite wide receivers in Mike Evans and Chris Godwin. Oh, and tight end Rob Gronkowski came out of retirement and joined Brady in Tampa Bay.

Remember how good Tom Brady and Rob Gronkowski are together? Now you're throwing two of the best receivers in football into the mix. Things could get scary in Tampa Bay.

The Buccaneers have an embarrassment of riches when you throw in fellow tight ends O.J. Howard and Cameron Brate. Even if one is traded, they'll have the best tight end duo in the league.

Ronald Jones is a solid running back who could break out with Tom Brady at quarterback as well. That only makes things easier for the quarterback.

It's hard to project exact numbers as there are so many variables. There will be injuries, stumbles and upticks in production at different times in the year.

It feels pretty safe to pencil Tom Brady in for over 4,000 yards though. And 30 touchdown passes could very easily make there way in as well. And this is Brady we're talking about here, so the interceptions will be kept to a minimum.

If we need to put exact numbers on it, let's go with 4,435 yards and 33 touchdown passes, compared to nine interceptions.

We might be seeing a prime-elite Tom Brady season in 2020, who would've thought it.

Rank At Position

Brady has long been considered the greatest quarterback of all-time by many. However, that does not always mean he's going to be the best fantasy quarterback. Even in a year where he's putting up some of his better numbers.

The reason for that is simple, he does not run. Sure, he had three rushing touchdowns, but Brady's never going to give you much with his legs.

So even if he finishes in the top-5 in passing yards and touchdown passes, he might not rank as high in fantasy.

Lamar Jackson is going to devour him when it comes to rushing stats. So will Josh Allen and Kyler Murray. Deshaun Watson will, and Russell Wilson will. Even Daniel Jones, Dak Prescott and Carson Wentz will pick up a bunch more yards.

Patrick Mahomes will manage a couple hundred despite his massive arm. And Aaron Rodgers can still scramble as well. Don't put it past Ryan Tannehill and Baker Mayfield to get their fair share too.

However, not all of those QBs will run nearly enough to surpass Brady when it comes to fantasy points. Especially if turnovers hurt you in your league *cough* Daniel Jones and Baker Mayfield *cough*.

With the running in mind, Brady drops a few spots. He's still one of the best fantasy quarterbacks in the league though, and a very safe bet.

And as Brady (along with quarterbacks like Drew Brees) have shown us, you don't need to run to put up ridiculous fantasy production.

With the talent around him in Tampa Bay in 2020, Brady sits comfortable in the top-10 fantasy quarterbacks, probably right around the number 8 mark.

If you're looking for strong production and consistency on a week-to-week basis, there are very few quarterbacks you should consider taking before Brady, even in 2020.
