Netflix's special The Roast of Tom Brady was an event like no other. The event featured a huge ensemble of actors, comedians, and NFL figures who all participated in the roast of one of the NFL's greatest players. Tom Brady wasn't the only figure who was the target of the roast, but he was certainly the primary topic of conversation. It seems that Brady may have some regrets with participating in the roast.

On a recent episode of The Pivot Podcast, Brady shared his true feelings now that he has had some time to reflect on the roast.

“I loved when the jokes were about me, I thought they were so fun, I didn't like the way it affected my kids,” Brady said, “so it's the hardest part about like the bittersweet aspect of when you do something that you think is one way and then all a sudden you realize I wouldn't do that again because of the way that it affected actually the people that I care about the most in the world.”

Tom Brady's children are old enough to understand the jokes from the roast, so it is understandable that they may have felt upset at some of the material. Brady's ex-wife Gisele Bundchen was also reportedly upset with some of the roast's content.

“So like it's it makes you in some ways a better parent going through it because again,” Brady said, “sometimes you're naive you don't know or you get a little like oh s—t you know and, like I said when I signed up for that I loved when when people were making fun of me.”

Brady's family was clearly upset by the roast so it seems highly unlikely that he would do another roast like that again.

Why did Brady choose to get roasted?

You may be wondering: why on Earth did Brady choose to participate with the roast in the first place?

Some of Brady's comments from that same interview shed some light on this thought process related to the roast.

“I always said, like when I was going through all the deflate gate stuff in 2015, 2016 I watched three things on TV,” Brady said. “I watched Premier League soccer, I watched golf, and I watched comedy shows because every time I turn on Sports I was like are you f—-ing kidding me.”

It appears that Brady's love of comedy, plus his approval of roastmaster Jeff Ross, caused him to take it on.

“So it's like I just wanted to like laugh and so I wanted to do the roast because the guy Jeff Ross became someone that I knew and you just don't see the full picture all the time,” Brady said. “So I think it's a good for me as a parent, I'm going to be a better parent as I go forward because of it, and at the same time I'm happy everyone who was there had a lot of fun, and I do think for me, just outside of let's say all that, it always is good like, if we're not laughing about things we're crying and I think we should have more fun.”
