Nate Diaz's time as a star in the UFC is clearly up, with the 37-year-old having just one fight remaining on his contract and no date in the ring sight. Recently, Diaz has begun calling for the UFC to book him a new fight or release him from the deal, especially since rumblings of a potential boxing showdown against Jake Paul have emerged.

Amid Diaz's latest pleas to the UFC, Dana White clapped back with a savage retort, suggesting that a boxing match against Paul is exactly the trajectory Diaz's career is heading, in an interview with TheMacLife.

“I mean, I like Nate. Let’s be honest, Nate’s won one fight in the last five or six years,” White said. “You know? When these guys get into these positions, you’ve got guys that have been with us for a long time, that we respect… you want to be fair to everybody, you want to do the right things or whatever. Nate Diaz isn’t going to come in and fight Kamaru Usman.”

“So listen, we’re trying to do the best we can. We’re trying not to s*** on anybody and disrespect anybody, but it’s not like we’re talking about Kamaru Usman here. We’re talking about Nate Diaz. Nate’s won one fight in five years, so we’re trying to figure this thing out with him. He probably should go on and fight Jake Paul. That’s a fight that makes sense.”

White has clearly had enough of Diaz sounding off about his contract situation and seemed to have no qualms with the idea of Diaz entering the boxing ring for a big-money fight with Paul. Of course, he took a jab at Diaz, suggesting that that's the low point his career has now stooped to, no longer capable of holding his own amongst the elite of the UFC.

A Diaz-Paul fight would certainly be a pay-per-view hit between one of UFC's all-time most famous fighters and the controversial YouTube star turned boxer.

Diaz's last fight came over a year ago in June of 2021, a loss against Leon Edwards in what was a unanimous decision. Prior to that, he fought Jorge Masvidal (and also lost) on Nov. 2, 2019. His last win came in August of 2019 against Anthony Pettis in a unanimous decision.
