If there are still any people claiming that Chris Paul is already “washed up”,  the Oklahoma City Thunder guard certainly hushed them quiet on Monday. The 35-year-old floor general willed his team to victory against his former team, the Houston Rockets. The Thunder won 104-100, and forced a winner-take-all Game 7 on Wednesday.

CP3 was absolutely brilliant down the stretch, recording 28 points, seven rebounds, three assists, and three steals in 39 minutes. The 10-time All-Star was 10-of-20 from the field and made three of his six 3-pointers.

Shortly after being recognized as the best player of the match, an animated Paul was recorded saying  “We just wanted a chance,” as he made his way back to the locker room. Here's the full clip from Turner Sports' Taylor Rooks:

With their backs against the wall, Chris Paul and the rest of the Thunder found themselves in yet another close match in the dying seconds of the game. CP3's leadership came through in the end, as he made all the right winning plays to get the W. Apart from playing solid D, Paul also knocked down two clutch free throws to put OKC in the driver seat with a few ticks left in regulation.

Making this win even sweeter was the fact that Paul completely outplayed his counterpart, Russell Westbrook, who cost the Rockets in the end game. Prior to the start of the season, Houston shipped Paul along with a 2024 and 2026 first-round picks to the Thunder to reunite Westbrook with James Harden.

The Rockets-Thunder series, meanwhile, is the second first-round match-up in the West to reach seven games. The Utah Jazz and Denver Nuggets will also have one game for all the marbles on Tuesday.
