It’s 2018 and Russell Westbrook and Patrick Beverley are still at it. During Tuesday’s matchup between the Los Angeles Clippers and the Oklahoma City Thunder at Chesapeake Energy Arena, Westbrook and Beverley got entangled while diving for a loose ball in the final period of the contest, resulting in a bit of hostility between the two firebrand point guards.

Westbrook obviously did not like the way Beverley dove for the leather. Aware of Beverley’s notorious style of play, Westbrook thought that it was a deliberate attempt by the Clippers’ court general to hit him in his lower extremities and inflict harm.

Here are more details about the skirmish, per Tomer Azarly of ClutchPoints.

The enmity between the two apparently necessitated the need for the police to intervene, according to reporter Jaime Maggio.

At this point, it’s worth noting that Westbrook and Beverley have a history. It could be remembered that it was Beverley’s supposedly accidental hit on Westbrook during a first-round matchup between the Houston Rockets and the Thunder in 2013 that ended the season for the latter, who needed to undergo a surgery to repair a torn meniscus.

Westbrook got the last laugh tonight, though, as the Thunder thumped Los Angeles, 128-110. Brodie finished the game with 32 points, eight assists, and four rebounds. As for Beverley, he only had four points to go with seven rebounds and six assists.
