The Minnesota Vikings have former Florida State running back Dalvin Cook leading the way in the backfield, with the team's rushing attack looking pretty solid for the future. However, it appears as though the Vikings could add some more firepower to such an attack in 2019-20 if they so choose and veteran running back Latavius Murray “would love” to remain in Minnesota going forward.

Spending the last two seasons in Minnesota as a member of the Vikings, Murray previously spent three seasons with the Oakland Raiders.

“This offseason will be about rest, recovery and preparing for 2019,” Murray wrote in an open letter on Officialize.com. “I’ll look at the film, see what I can improve on and work on that to be my best self. The grind truly never stops. I’d really like the opportunity to compete with and against Dalvin again next season. I do think we can be a force in the backfield.

“In terms of my future, I’m not sure yet where I’ll be next season. I’d love to be back. I love everything about the Vikings: the team, the organization, the locker room. I believe in what they’re doing here. We’ll see what happens.

“I’d like to take this time to thank all my fans for supporting me. Having a platform like Latavius.com allows me to share my thoughts directly with you and I can’t thank you enough.”

A former sixth-round pick by the Raiders, Murray played collegiately at UCF before making his way to the NFL ranks back in 2013. As a result of his 77 career appearances split between the Raiders and Vikings, the 29-year-old Murray has rushed for 3,698 yards and 34 touchdowns on 899 carries in all.
