The Minnesota Vikings are dealing with some injuries in their secondary for their upcoming playoff matchup against the New Orleans Saints.

Cornerback Mike Hughes was placed on the injury reserve list on Friday with a neck injury and will not play on Sunday in Nola. Losing Hughes is a significant loss for the Vikings defense, as he saw nearly half of their defensive snaps during the season. He led the team in pass breakups with seven.

Fellow cornerback Mackensie Alexander will also not be available for Sunday’s game as he's been dealing with a knee injury. Alexander was listed with a knee injury last week against the Chicago Bears, but he still played 75 snaps on defense. His role is mostly as a slot cornerback but could see that expand with injuries.

Vikings defensive end Ifeadi Odenigb was listed as questionable to play on Friday. He's dealing with a hamstring injury. Ifeadi plays a large role in the Vikings defense. He had a tremendous season this past year as he was third on the team in sacks with seven.

Containing Drew Brees and Mike Thomas will be incredibly hard for the Vikings with their injuries in the secondary. Xavier Rhodes will need all the help he can get this upcoming Sunday, as he'll be facing a challenging assignment of guarding Thomas. Thomas led the league in yards with 1,745 and receptions with 149.

The Vikings and the Saints will be playing the first wildcard game in the NFC on Sunday at 1:05 pm ET.
