The Minnesota Vikings have had issues finding a reliable kicker and it appears that they aren't so sold that Dan Bailey is the answer going forward. The Vikings hired Marwan Maalouf to be their special team's coordinator and one of the first questions from the media was about what they will do about the kicking position.

Maalouf said right now all options are on the table and although he didn't rule out bringing back Bailey, it doesn't seem that would be the team's first option.

“As of right now, all things are on the table,” Maalouf said, via the Pioneer Press. “We are starting to look at [draft-eligible] kickers and free agent kickers. That’s something that I’ve had good luck with in the past. We have always had good kickers where I’ve been.”

Towards the end of the Mike Priefer era with the Vikings, there were some questions if he was causing some of the issues with the Vikings kickers because it seems every one of them seemed to struggle.

Maalouf said it's most important that the coaches don't put too much into the kickers head so they can just go out there and kick.

“You don’t want to over-coach,” Maalouf said. “You want to know when to back off, and when to approach him and maybe mention a couple of things about his footwork or his technique. You know, a lot of things with football is muscle memory. You don’t want guys thinking. You want him to go react, be ready, and do their job.”
