If only there were more Trevor Siemians in the world. If there were, we'd all be in a much better spot.

The guy who was the Denver Broncos starter last season feels lucky to now be the backup quarterback for Kirk Cousins in Minnesota with the Vikings, via Andrew Krammer of the Minneapolis Star Tribune.

“There’s a lot of places you could go,” Siemian said, via Andrew Krammer of the Minneapolis Star Tribune. “For me to be here in an organization who’s knocking on the door of some really great things, I think there’s a lot of people that would kill to be in this spot.”

Siemian, 26, carries around a seventh-round tag with him (2015 NFL Draft). Perhaps that's part of the reason the intelligent Northwestern graduate is so appreciative of his day job.

“To have a quality backup that if, knock on wood, if he had to step in,” Spielman said, “we feel very confident he could come in and play for us and keep us in the right direction.”

Over the course of three seasons playing at a mile-high elevation, Siemian racked up 5,686 yards and a TD-INT ratio of 30-26 in 24 games started. All told, his numbers have been solid. Not spectacular, but not horrible.

Now the clear-cut backup to Kirk Cousins—the free agent whale of the offseason—Siemian will only play if Cousins is out of action.

But it won't matter if you remind the smarty-pants QB of that thought. He's still looking at the glass half full.
