The Minnesota Vikings had a slow start at home last week vs. the Los Angeles Rams. They only scored three points in the first half and ultimately lost. The loss dropped the Vikings from a playoff spot and they no longer control their own playoff destiny. Vikings Pro Bowl wide receiver Justin Jefferson appeared to call out his teammates for not having enough energy to start the game last week.

On Monday, Vikings head coach Mike Zimmer commented on Jefferson's remarks. He stated that he thought Jefferson was just frustrated, as was the whole team and that “We all say things 10 minutes after the game that we wish we wouldn’t have,” according to NBC Sports' Mike Florio.

On Thursday, Charean Williams reported that Pioneer Press reporter Chris Tomasson confirmed that Jefferson and Zimmer still had not spoken since Jefferson's comments after the game. The Vikings receiver did not back down on his initial criticism either. “I agree with him… just being frustrated. I definitely don’t feel like we had enough energy that we should’ve had, especially going against a team like that. We got to run off that energy, that high motor, that tempo. I felt like we were lacking that,” said Jefferson.

With the loss, the Vikings fell to 7-8 and are a game back of the Philadelphia Eagles and the San Francisco 49ers for the final two wild card spots. It does not get any easier as Minnesota faces the Green Bay Packers this weekend in a must-win scenario.
