If recent rumors are to be believed, it looks like Jim Harbaugh has found his way back to the NFL with the Minnesota Vikings.

The Michigan Wolverines head coach has been linked with the Vikings in recent days after the NFL franchise expressed their interest in interviewing him. The team added fuel to the fire after it has been reported that they are planning to fly in Harbaugh to Minnesota for another interview after gauging his interest last week.

Now, according to the latest reports, the said meeting on Wednesday is nothing but formality as Harbaugh already got the job, per Chris Balas of The Wolverine.

Michigan head coach Jim Harbaugh is headed to Minnesota for a Wednesday interview, but multiple sources say it’s a formality. Harbaugh heads there planning to sign a deal to become the NFL Vikings’ head coach.

Harbaugh was not in his office at Schembechler Hall this afternoon. Other sources told TheWolverine.com that while he didn’t address the team, he did say some “goodbyes” and “thank yous” yesterday.

Now this is certainly an interesting development, albeit not surprising given the interest that Jim Harbaugh has gotten from several other NFL teams.

Not to mention that new Vikings general manager Kwesi Adofo-Mensah has history working with Harbaugh in the past when they overlapped working during their time with the San Francisco 49ers.

Of course nothing is official until the two sides sign a contract. However, if the latest reports are true, then the wait won't be long.

As for Michigan, they have also been reportedly preparing for the possible departure of Harbaugh and actually has some targets in mind to replace him like Carolina Panthers coach Matt Rhule.
