Golden State Warriors forward Andre Iguodala is slated to miss Game 1 of the NBA Finals with a lower left leg contusion, but president Bob Myers is still holding hope that his Swiss army knife can return to the court sooner rather than later.

Iguodala sustained the injury in the last moments of Game 3 in the Western Conference Finals, knocking knees with Houston Rockets guard James Harden and missing every game since.

“It’s one of those things that it heals when it heals,” said Myers, according to Mark Medina of the San Jose Mercury News. “I’d love to say – that’s a nice way to say it – that I’m guardedly optimistic. But I have no way to say when that will be. I don’t think anybody does. Your body heals when it heals.”

“When he’s out there and able to run and jump, he’ll play. It’s the Finals. There’s nothing to save it for. At this point, he can’t. For his sake and ours, I hope he can get back soon.”

Iguodala got a second opinion on his injury, but he warned this is no Kawhi Leonard-type case, but rather the team doing its due diligence.

“We’ve had a lot of opinions,” Iguodala said. “I think that’s just standard. I think that can be, not blown out of proportion by someone reporting it, but it can be taken as someone not doing their job. But its all due diligence… We’re all on the same page at this point.”

The Warriors have used their sixth man as LeBron James' primary defender for three years and counting, a major part of how the Warriors navigated to a 4-2 series win in 2015, earning him Finals MVP honors.
