SAN FRANCISCO — Stephen Curry and the Golden State Warriors dominated the preseason with an undefeated record of 5-0. In the process of their winning streak, they defeated LeBron James and the Los Angeles Lakers twice.

The Lakers failed to win a single game. Warriors coach Steve Kerr is taking that with a grain of salt.

“I suspect they've (Lakers) been playing possum a little bit in the preseason. They've been around long enough to know that preseason games don't mean a thing. So we're expecting their best effort tomorrow.”

The Warriors are looking forward to opening night in the Staples Center. The lackluster play the Lakers exhibited in the preseason isn't what the Dubs are expecting. They're going into Los Angeles to face a team they believe is very good, and they want to make an early statement to the entire league.

It's strictly business for the Warriors this season. They have been on the bottom half in standings the past two campaigns. This year the Dubs have plans to change that negative trend. That plan includes having a healthy Klay Thompson and center, James Wiseman. The Dubs will also be finding the right pairing of older players with younger ones.

Tuesday night, the Lakers are the Warriors' first task of the season. How well they execute their plan will determine the outcome of the game. It will mark the first step in the direction of the postseason, which is one of the team's bigger goals.

It won't be an easy game, and that's okay, because the Warriors aren't expecting one.
