It's been a month since we've seen Gary Payton II take the floor for the Golden State Warriors. The 29-year-old has been recovering from a fractured elbow that he sustained in Game 2 of Golden State's first-round series against the Memphis Grizzlies, and he's been out of commission since.

Payton was actually cleared to play in Game 1 of the NBA Finals against the Boston Celtics, but Warriors coach Steve Kerr decided against the same. At this point, it is clear that GP2 is raring to go for Game 2. The 6-foot-3 guard/forward claims that he's now just waiting for coach Kerr to call on his number:

“I'm available, ready to go, just waiting on the call,” Payton said, via Dalton Johnson of NBC Sports.

Payton appears to have recovered from his injury already and we could finally see him back on Sunday for Game 2. Coach Kerr himself already hinted about GP2's availability for the second game of the series, which obviously bodes well for the Warriors.

For his part, Payton revealed that he's not feeling any discomfort at the moment with regard to his elbow injury.  He also has had no setbacks on his road to recovery:

“No, same as it always was,” Payton said. “Just been soreness and stuff for the last few weeks. But like I said, we got a couple more games, so I'll figure it out. I'm ready to go.”

The Warriors swingman was in a jovial mood in practice on Saturday and he even showed off some of his newest trick shots:

The Warriors need all the help they can get for Game 2 as they look to even out the series against the Celtics. Payton is no star, but there's no denying that he's going to be an important player for Golden State in this series.
