General manager of the Golden State Warriors Bob Myers has seen a tremendous amount of success at the age of 45. Apparently, Miami Heat president Pat Riley had a lot to do with that, given some of the advice that Myers has received during his time with the Warriors.

While appearing on 95.7 The Game's “The Morning Roast,” Myers gave a bit of insight into the coaching he's received from Riley, as well as some experiences he's learned during his time with the Warriors:

“The thing that I've gotten on this journey is to see all sides of the coin,” Myers said, via NBC Sports Bay Area. “A lot of people that sit in this chair never make it to the (NBA) Finals, never win a championship. I have the honor and distinction of saying we had the best record ever, and we won 15 games last year.

Myers then went on to tell a somewhat humorous story of an encounter he had with Riley and the advice the Warriors executive received.

“Speaking of Pat Riley — a few summers ago at Summer League in Las Vegas, I said, ‘Pat, you want to get something to eat?' ” Myers explained. “So we sat down — and this was in the midst of our run [of going to the NBA Finals five straight years] — and I asked him for his advice on things.

“Pat looked me in the eyes and said, ‘There's nothing more important than winning.' And I kind of tried to say, ‘Well, what about your family and stuff like that?' Pat is a great guy and he's got a great family.”

Though Myers is clearly a family man, he definitely took heed to Riley's words and brought them to fruition. Though the Warriors did only win 15 games last season, it was partially towards no particular individual's fault. Klay Thompson was rehabbing from a torn ACL while Stephen Curry broke his hand within the first few games of the season.

With a critical offseason looming, Myers will surely be at the forefront of trade talks as he looks to reshape his roster for championship contention once more.
