The Golden State Warriors lost one key member of their coaching staff after Willie Green decided to move to the Phoenix Suns.

According to Monte Poole of NBC Sports, Green has accepted a lead assistant coach position with the Suns on Tuesday.

The 37-year-old will be serving under new head coach Monty Williams, who agreed to a five-year deal to lead the rebuilding Suns squad last month.

Green has been with the Warriors and served as the team's player-development coach since 2016 when Golden State lost Luke Walton to the Los Angeles Lakers.

According to Mark Medina of The Mercury News, Green handled film sessions and helped in scouting during his stint with the franchise.

Green also handled Golden State's Summer League Team last season, as he was viewed as one of the most promising young coaches in the league. The Michigan native will start his stint with the Suns in the upcoming Summer League in Las Vegas in July.

In Phoenix, he is expected to have a bigger role compared to what he had in Golden State. The Suns are banking on their new coaching staff in the hope of finally ending the year playoff drought.

The Suns have not made the playoffs since losing in the Western Conference Finals during the 2009-2010 season.
