The Golden State Warriors are finally in Washington, D.C. to celebrate last year's NBA championship, but it won't be taking place at the White House.

The Warriors decided against going to the White House, and instead will tour an African-American museum. According to Chris Haynes of ESPN, they will have some special visitors on the tour.

Steph Curry has been very vocal about not wanting to visit the White House because he disagrees with some of the policies that President Donald Trump has enacted since taking office. Curry talked to Sam Amick of USA Today last September about the reasoning.

“That we don't stand for basically what our president has—the things that he's said and the things that he hasn't said in the right times, that we won't stand for it. And by acting and not going, hopefully that will inspire some change when it comes to what we tolerate in this country and what is accepted and what we turn a blind eye to. It's not just the act of not going there. There are things you have to do on the back end to actually push that message into motion.”

After Curry made those comments, Donald Trump withdrew his invitation although it's unclear if he ever reached out to the Warriors again about visiting.

This will be a good opportunity for the Warriors to learn more about history, and to really make a point that they won't stand for what is happening in the White House. This seems to be more and more a trend since Trump took office that players don't want to celebrate their championships with him.

The Warriors will return to action on Wednesday night, in a big game against the Washington Wizards.
