Golden State Warriors star Klay Thompson is nearing his return to the court after a lengthy rehab process. The Warriors have taken a cautious approach with Thompson, though head coach Steve Kerr admitted a few days ago that Golden State wouldn't hesitate to insert the sharpshooter back into the starting lineup. On Tuesday, Kerr spoke to reporters and further revealed the plan for Thompson in his return from injury, via Anthony Slater of The Athletic.

According to Steve Kerr, Warriors star Klay Thompson will play 15-20 minutes in his return, with the likelihood of rest days on one end of back-to-backs until the star gets back into a rhythm.

This makes a lot of sense for several reasons. As crazy as it sounds, Kerr and the Warriors haven't needed Thompson, as they've managed to secure the NBA's best record without the services of the five-time All-Star.

Plus, the Warriors have waited this long for Thompson to return. It would be foolish for a team with championship aspirations to push a player key to said title hopes and risk a re-injury, or a soft tissue injury as a result of heavy minutes. Especially when the Warriors have very capable role players, like Jordan Poole.

While Thompson will very likely start, he will probably be taken out of games in the early going, until he gets his legs back under him.

Steve Kerr and the Warriors plan to limit Klay Thompson now so they have him at full strength later.
