Following his 35-point performance on Sunday, Golden State Warriors superstar Kevin Durant has now logged five straight 30-point outings to open the postseason.

Only Wilt Chamberlain and Rick Barry have achieved a similar feat in the entire history of the Warriors franchise, with both guys holding the record for seven straight 30-point games in the playoffs.

When asked about his most recent achievement, Durant was a bit taken aback, and admitted that merely being mentioned in the same light as these two legends is already a tremendous honor for him.

“That’s crazy. Damn since ’62. I don’t even want to trip on that,” Durant told Marc J. Spears of The Undefeated when made aware of the Chamberlain and Barry statistics. “Just to be up there in the same sentence with them is an honor. Professional and certified bucket-getters.”

Durant led the charge for the Dubs in their Game 1 victory against the Houston Rockets. On top of his 35 points, the reigning back-to-back Finals MVP winner also accounted for one three-pointer, five rebounds, three assists, a steal, and a block, as the Warriors went on to win 104-100.

With the Warriors drawing first blood, the momentum is currently on their side. Game 2 will take place on Tuesday, with Golden State looking to make it two-for-two to start the series against their arch-rivals.

As for Durant, he will hope to keep his 30-point streak going, as he looks to lead the charge for the Warriors yet again.

He will only need to score 30 or more in the next three games in order to set the new team record, and given how amazing he has been thus far, this is very much achievable for the four-time scoring champ.
