Golden State Warriors forward Kevin Durant won't feel any pause of awkwardness witnessing the playoffs for the first time without LeBron James, who was eliminated from contention along with his Los Angeles Lakers this season.

Durant, who has played in the Western Conference throughout his entire career, has only seen James in three series — first with the Oklahoma City Thunder in his first NBA Finals, then twice more in the past two seasons with the Warriors.

“Is it strange?” Durant said, according to Anthony Slater of The Athletic. “Nah, it’s not really strange because he’s been on the East Coast for so long. You only run into him in the Finals. It’s weird playing on the West Coast.

“It don’t feel any different. But seeing how many years he’s played in the playoffs and how precious the summers are for us — when we get to relax, get away from the game, the life a little bit — this is the first time in a while. I wonder how that’s going to be for him. I’m sure he needs the rest. I know it’s going to be a little weird for him. Definitely want to ask him about it.”

For the NBA however, this will be the first time in 14 years that James hasn't been part of the postseason and the first in nine seasons that he's failed to reach the NBA Finals — putting an end to an otherworldly streak of sheer excellence.

As for the Warriors, they likely will have a well-deserved break from King James after meeting him in The Finals for the last four years.
