The NBA decided to rescind the technical foul assessed to Kevin Durant during the Golden State Warriors 132-117 loss to the Memphis Grizzlies Thursday night.

Not like it matters much. Even if the technical remained, bumping Durant's total to 16 and normally leading to an automatic suspension, the game was a regular-season finale for the Warriors. Since it's already the postseason, all technicals accumulated up to that point don't matter anymore and every player starts with a blank slate. The number of technical fouls allowed in the playoffs, however, shrink down to just seven – so the fiery Durant still has to be careful considering that he was whistled for a total of three technical fouls in just nine days.

Durant's supposed technical occurred early in the first quarter after allegedly bumping into NBA referee Kane Fitzgerald. The Warriors forward was able to explain his side and the official agreed to have it reviewed leading to the successful cancellation.

The reigning NBA champions open their title defense against the eighth-seeded Los Angeles Clippers on Oracle Arena Saturday night, and as always, the team remains the heavy favorite to not only dispatch their first-round opponent but also to repeat. With DeMarcus Cousins fully healthy and shoring what was their lone position of weakness (barring their switch to a “Death Line-up”), the rich got richer in a playoff field that got more interesting with LeBron James not being part of the action for the first time in a long time.
