Since his decision to leave the Oklahoma City Thunder for the Golden State Warriors, Kevin Durant has consistently either hinted at or discussed his feelings regarding that time in his career.

It has continued to remain a prevalent topic around Durant that in former Boston Celtics forward Paul Pierce believes signals that a return to Oklahoma City could be in the books down the line.

It wouldn't completely out of the picture as there have been several other players to make their returns to the first team. The most recent example as Pierce pointed out saw LeBron James make the venture back to the Cleveland Cavaliers after four years away with the Miami Heat. What has helped alleviate the situation is that James has experienced much success in his return leading the team to three straight NBA Finals and their first championship.

Kevin Garnett also went through a path as he had much success with the Boston Celtics for a few years and eventually made his way back to the Minnesota Timberwolves, who welcomed him with open arms. He had spent the bulk of his career with the organization where he holds many of the team's prestigious records.

Although the Thunder have moved forward without Durant by acquiring both Carmelo Anthony and Paul George, the potential departure of one or both could leave the door open to the reigning league MVP making the jump back to the Thunder a few years from now. It could be in similar to fashion to what James did by winning away from the organization and hoping to bring that back to Oklahoma City.

Ultimately, if the opportunity presents itself at some point down the line things could hedge in that direction.
