If the rift between NBA players and officials hasn't been enough of a prominent storyline in this 2017-18 season, inching closer to the postseason won't help matters at all.

During Tuesday night's TNT showdown between the Golden State Warriors and the Oklahoma City Thunder, referee Lauren Holtkamp had one of the biggest gaffes of her professional career (and she's had plenty, just ask Chris Paul).

Russell Westbrook drove the lane guarded by Andre Iguodala using a Steven Adams screen, but slipped with his own feet. Holtkamp, who was only a few feet away from the action in the sideline, called a tripping foul on Kevin Durant, who failed to make contact with Westbrook, realizing he had slipped on his own.

The play was shown again and again at Oracle Arena's jumbotron, sending the fans into a rabid frenzy. Chants of “refs, you suck” didn't take long to rain down, as an already-physical game now escalated to comical levels with this latest phantom foul call.

The foul call was so enraging to those present, that even Warriors co-owner Joe Lacob (a self-professed diehard fan) was so upset that he took off his jacket and threw it onto the floor after seeing the decision from Holtkamp, echoing the crowd's reaction.

Westbrook did his job in selling the play, as he looked up at Holtkamp once he hit the floor, but admitted he did slip during his post-game comments.

“I slipped,” said Westbrook, according to Logan Murdock of the San Jose Mercury News. “I just tripped, it was a missed call — it happens throughout the league. There are a lot of missed calls.”

Calls like this one surely won't go a long way to repairing an already poor relationship between players and refs. The fans themselves had their own two cents to say about the matter.
