The Golden State Warriors were able to take a 2-0 series lead over the Portland Trail Blazers on Thursday, and head coach Steve Kerr feels his team got away with one.

The Warriors managed to overcome a slow start to rally late and secure the 114-111 victory. According to Mark Medina of The Mercury News, Kerr did not feel they were deserving of the victory:

“We stole that game. They outplayed us.”

There is certainly plenty of truth to Kerr's comments. The Warriors were thoroughly outplayed in the second quarter and ultimately fell behind by as many as 17 points in the game. Despite the slow start, they were able to storm back with a monstrous third quarter. Although Portland surprisingly managed to outshoot Golden State from deep, the latter's remaining star power proved to be too much down the stretch as the champs finished the game on a 14-3 run.

Kerr made it clear after Game 1 that he did not expect the Warriors to be able to shut down the dynamic backcourt pairing of Damian Lillard and CJ McCollum. The star duo has been nothing short of spectacular thus far in the postseason, but Golden State did a solid job of containing them again by holding them to a combined 45 points on 15-of-39 shooting.

While Golden State did not win in a fashion that Kerr would have liked, he will undoubtedly take the victory now that the odds have grown increasingly in their favor, especially with star forward Kevin Durant slated to miss Games 3 and 4 with his calf injury.
