Golden State Warriors head coach Steve Kerr knows that trade deadline season can be a stressful time for players around the NBA. One of his players, D'Angelo Russell, is garnering a fair amount of interest for the effort he has put forth in place of an injured Stephen Curry.

Russell has heard his name tossed about in trade rumors since he joined the team as part of the Kevin Durant trade with the Nets this summer. Some fans in Golden State have questioned his fit, but he has played well.

In Curry’s absence, Russell is again putting up all-star-type numbers. But until he produces alongside a healthy Curry and Klay Thompson, the speculation about his future will persist. Russell isn’t comfortable talking about the Feb. 6 trade deadline.

“Money doesn’t buy peace of mind, it doesn’t buy a sense of belonging, a sense of ‘This is my team,’” Kerr said. “If there’s speculation that you’re going to be traded all the time, I don’t care how much money you make, I don’t care who you are, that’s tough.”

Russell, now 23 years of age, has made 22 appearances with the Warriors this season (all starts), racking up averages of 23.2 points on 43.3 percent shooting from the field (36.3 percent from beyond the arc), 6.0 assists, 3.4 rebounds and just under one steal (0.9) in 31.4 minutes per game. Whether or not he'll remain with the Warriors beyond this season's trade deadline remains to be seen.

The Warriors have struggled through the early stages of this season, as their 9-27 overall record can attest. They'll look to snap a three-game losing streak on Saturday night, when they serve as hosts to the Detroit Pistons.
