The James Wiseman trade rumors have been endless ever since the Golden State Warriors bowed out early from the NBA play-in tournament. As far as Steve Kerr is considered, not only is Wiseman staying, but he's going to be a huge fixture in Golden State for years to come.

The Warriors coach recently made an appearance on 95.7 The Game with Damon, Ratto & Kolskey, where Kerr made a pretty definitive statement on James Wiseman's place in their team's plans:

“Over the long haul, we're going to develop James and we feel like he's going to be our starting center at some point, for a long, long time ahead.”

The Warriors brass has long been clear about their desire to keep Wiseman, with all the trade buzz simply being outside noise. Steve Kerr just doubled down on the franchise's stance on their young big man.

It'll be interesting to see how a hulking center like Wiseman fits into the full-strength Warriors once Klay Thompson is back in action. We're seeing firsthand how Deandre Ayton has revitalized the traditional big man in the modern-day game amid the Phoenix Suns' NBA Finals run. Kerr thinks there's nothing stopping James Wiseman from doing the same down the line.

“We always keep our eyes on what's trending in the league.. The most interesting thing has just been watching Deandre Ayton. I talk to James, text him, I'm just so inspired by what Ayton has been able to do, and there's no reason why James can't follow that same path.”

If James Wiseman can produce at the level Deandre Ayton has throughout these playoffs, perhaps the Warriors will be making another Finals run of their own soon.
