Golden State Warriors head coach Steve Kerr will not be on the sidelines in Game 4 against the Memphis Grizzlies after he tested positive for COVID-19.

According to Shams Charania of The Athletic, Mike Brown will serve as head coach for Monday's contest following the shocking turn of events.

According to the Warriors, via Tim Kawakami of The Athletic, Steve Kerr tested positive before his scheduled press conference ahead of Game 4. The team did not provide further details on his condition, but it should be noted that he's wearing a mask the last few days.

It remains to be seen how long he'll be out, but given that there is only a one-day gap between Games 4 and 5, it is increasingly likely that the veteran tactician won't also be with the team when they go on the road to visit the Grizzlies.

For what it's worth, it is interesting to note that Brown takes over after it was revealed that he has been hired by the Sacramento Kings to be their next head coach. He is going to stay with the Dubs for the rest of the 2022 playoffs, and so now fans will get to see his coaching chops before he takes his talents on the other side of California.

Here's to hoping that Kerr won't be out for long, though. While there has been criticisms about his coaching in the past, he has perfectly managed a group of stars and made them buy-in to his system en route to multiple championships.
