Golden State Warriors head coach Steve Kerr will have to get used to a far different roster than what he has been accustomed to over the past few seasons.

With Kevin Durant now on the Brooklyn Nets and Klay Thompson out for much of the upcoming season with a torn ACL, the Warriors will rely heavily on Stephen Curry, Draymond Green and new Warrior D’Angelo Russell.

Per Mark Medina of The Mercury News, Kerr and his Warriors squad will be more focused on creating an identity this year.

“It’s so different from the last few years where we could, barring disaster, we knew we were going to win a whole lot of games,” Kerr said. “It was a lot more about preparing for the playoffs and whether we won 57 games or 65 games, it didn’t really matter that much. What a luxury to be able to say that. Now with all the new additions and the losses we’ve had, it’s really about establishing who we are as a team. We don’t know who we are. We knew who we were the last five years. It’s a brand new challenge.”

Indeed, for the first time in many years, the Warriors are not the prohibitive favorites to win the NBA Finals after the departure of Durant and injury to Thompson. Moreover, after losing their first Finals since 2016, the Dubs have a lot of figuring out to do come the 2019-20 campaign.
