New Golden State Warriors small forward Andrew Wiggins has all the physical tools to be an elite player on both ends of the court, which is why former Defensive Player of the Year and the Warriors’ leader, Draymond Green, is challenging him to become an All-Defensive player with the Dubs.

Wiggins appreciates Green looking out for him and is eager to shed the label that he’s not a good defender:

The Warriors are hoping a change of scenery and reduced expectations from the outside will be just what the former No. 1 overall pick needs to flip the switch on his career.

In Minnesota, Wiggins was asked to be the man. With the Warriors, he will likely be the third option on offense next season once stars Stephen Curry and Klay Thompson suit up.

It doesn’t take too much skill to play defense in the NBA. Half of it is just giving effort. With Green barking at Wiggins from afar, expect the former Kansas Jayhawk to be engaged on defense more consistently.

Offense hasn’t been an issue for Wiggins thus far with the Dubs. He’s cutting at the right time to the basket and playing freely in Steve Kerr’s motion offense.

Wiggins is averaging 22.8 points, 2.8 rebounds and 3.0 assists with the Warriors in 31.9 minutes per game. He’s shooting an efficient 57.9 percent from the field, 52.6 percent from beyond the arc and 71.4 percent from the free-throw line.
