With the trade deadline approaching, there has been increased fervor over where Golden State Warriors guard D'Angelo Russell will be playing his final two-plus months in the 2019-20 season.

However, on Wednesday night, he returned to Barclays Center to play his former team, the Brooklyn Nets, with whom he was named an All-Star for the first time in his career.

Russell, whom the Nets faithful embraced, received a warm reception in his return prior to tip-off.

Nets fans also showered the Warriors guard with “Thank You, D'Lo” chant as he was shooting free-throws.

The Nets were one of the league's busiest teams during the summer, moving out D'Angelo Russell — a blossoming star — to make room to sign the All-Star trio of Kevin Durant, Kyrie Irving and DeAndre Jordan.

While the Russell-led Nets won 42 games last year and grabbed the No. 6 seed in the Eastern Conference, this year's iteration is off to a 22-27 start entering play Wednesday.

As for Russell and the Warriors, they failed to meet expectations and are the worst team in the NBA today after the injuries suffered by Stephen Curry and Klay Thompson.
