There was plenty of buzz surrounding Golden State Warriors superstar Kevin Durant's return to Oklahoma City. After a hostile welcome in last year's return to Chesapeake Energy Arena, even head coach Steve Kerr was admittedly hoping things would not be as raucous.

Kerr got his wish after Kevin Durant received a much warmer welcome this time around, according to Anthony Slater of The Vertical.

While there are still some clear boos, it was nothing compared to last year's reception. Furthermore, they were ultimately drowned out by the host of Warriors fans next to the tunnel Durant came out of.

It has been quite the journey for both Kevin Durant and Thunder superstar Russell Westbrook since the bitter breakup. However, even Westbrook chose to take the high road prior to the matchup by treating tonight as just another game.

Perhaps the reason for the mild backlash is that Oklahoma City now has a trifecta of stars they can take pride in as opposed to last year when it was only Westbrook running the show for a team that largely stumbled into the playoffs. Although the Thunder have struggled so far in the 2017-18 NBA season, the addition of superstars Paul George and Carmelo Anthony has undoubtedly given Oklahoma City a newfound sense of optimism.
